About Coach Development Director Karen Prinsloo
Coach Prinsloo is a wife to Ian, mom to Martin and Jared (both of whom are passionate volleyball players, currently pursuing their passion on post-secondary volleyball teams), and a teacher in Vancouver. She loves teaching, and she loves coaching and refereeing volleyball. And now she is looking forward to investing in the development of other coaches. Investing in young people and seeing them grow in their skills and confidence, whether it be in the classroom or on the volleyball court, make her day!
Coaching Philosophy
Coach Prinsloo believes a focus on the development of efficient movement patterns, fundamental volleyball skills, as well as ongoing mental training focusing on teaching athletes to never quit, but to find pleasure in the pressure that facing a tough opponent brings, together with competitive game-like practices are amongst some of the foundations for the improvement her teams have experienced.
She values TEAM - teamness, effort, attitude and motivation. She expects her athletes to take responsibility for the well-being of the team, give their best effort in every activity, have a competitive, growth mindset and be driven and motivated to succeed.
